Record Sailfishing!

This week set all kinds of records for sailfish tournaments. Over 1800 sailfish were caught in 2 tournaments. The Reel Candy team was busy with charters, with 7 of our guests catching their first ever sailfish over a four day period. These fish will probably be around for a while with the warm weather this weekend. Another cold front later in the week will set off another record bite. We have a few dates open this month and February on the Reel Candy. Also in February, Candy and I, will celebrate Valentines Day, fishing the all new 70' Viking "Fa La Me" with Robbie Moore in Isla Mujeres, Mexico. We can bring 4 paying guests along. Interested? The Reel Candy - We Are Home! Sitting by the Tiki Bar Reminiscing

Wow what a season!
Since leaving Stuart in February for San Salvador the Reel Candy team fished the Bahama Island chain experiencing some of the best offshore fishing available on rod and reel. WAHOO, MAHI, MARLIN February and March we caught wahoo from Chub Cay to San Sal. San Sal again proved that monster wahoo cruise the waters around the island. The Reel Candy then fished an Invitational tournament in Crooked Island, Samana, Rum and back to San Sal. We took 2nd place with a couple blue marlin (5-4-6 in 5 days), several dolphin, lots of yellowfin tuna, with a couple over 60 pounds. We fished the Invitational Azur International in Bimini and took 1st in this fun tournament. We were back to Cat Island, seeing several blues, then onto Harbour Island for some downtime. Candy joined us and we headed for Marsh Harbour. Although the bite, was tapering off by the time we got there, we were able to see and catch a few blues, for first time anglers.
From Marsh we were off to Treasure, where we caught Perry his blue marlin on his 20th wedding anniversary. Treasure Cay, Bahamas is always one of our favorite places to visit. Patrick Fetsch, the GM at Treasure does an excellent job providing a "home away from home". We finished our season in Grand Cay, fishing with Craig and Joe. It was fun to just lay back for a while and catch yellowtails, sharks, grouper, and muttons. After the storm "Brett" we set course with the Reel Candy for a short run to West End, Old Bahama Bay, for those always refreshing rumrunners. Waking up the next morning to flat mirror like seas, we were off to Jupiter. Looks like swording fishing is in the forecast the rest of August with some open dates available. We booked a couple charters on the t/t Reel Candy 26', catching bonitas, mahi, and a sail or two. Visit us at the Seaport Marina just inside the Jupiter Inlet, beside the Federal Highway drawbridge, whenever you are in the area. Candy and I settled in Jupiter when we first started sailfishing several years ago. We are close to the famous sailfish alley, the stream, and many other fish holding structure, allowing you the maximum time to fish. We feel fortunate having the opportunity to return to Jupiter and be close to the West Palm Beach International Airport.

We are also able to offer a one night stay for two at a local Jupiter Hotel FREE just minutes from the marina when fishing the following day with us.

Took a couple of hours this afternoon to check things out before the tournament Thursday. Caught this blue one just outside the cut off Bakers Bay. Congratulations Perry who hasn't caught one since 2002. Eric and Elvis did a great job, looking forward to the rest of the season. Finally have decent internet thanks to Al, Tom and the guys at Wave WiFi!

From Jupiter, Florida to Marsh Harbour

We arrived in Marsh Harbour just in time for this low pressure system to create tough fishing conditions. However the guys fishing the Bahama Billfish Championship have been catching some nice blue marlin. Although the numbers seem small there have been several fish seen in the spread or jumped off. Hope to get out tomorrow. Ran into our Friends on the Reel Toy from Jupiter, Florida while visiting Boat Harbour. They caught a blue on the way here, Hopefully they get some more fishing in before they need to return to the states.

Reel Candy back in the Abacos for June 2011

After a whirlwind Marlin fishing trip to the Achlins and Crooked Island, the Reel Candy, has made its way back to the Abacos in Marsh Harbour. While making the trip from San Salvador to Harbour Island, we encountered a port engine problem. Although we thought it was corrected in Harbour Island when we fished with our friends in Treasure Cay, it started all over again. The boat is now back in the states and will be as good as new next week. Elvis and I, will be making our way back to Treasure for a couple of weeks of fishing and the final leg of the BBC.

Stuart, Florida Sailfish Bite "Heating Up"

This weeks weather allowed the Reel Candy crew to get offshore a couple of days in Stuart, Florida. Charters got alot of action but most of it was on bonitas. LARGE bonitas! After a while we had to give our anglers a break. Bonitas were biting so fast sailfish and dolphin didn't have a chance to get to a bait. We did manage a few dolphin. A friend of ours fishing a little south of us saw 8 sails yesterday. After this coldfront sailfishing should really pick up. We are booked the weekends for November, but have a few weekdays open. Looks like the sailfish are here in the Sailfish Capitol. VJ seen several fish the last couple of days. The Reel Candy fished today, saw 9, got a bite out of 5, hooked 3, and got 1. Glad it wasn't a tournament. But the guys had fun. Tom got his first sail fishing with Scott Weaver from Raileigh, NC

The "Reel Candy" made the cover of Melton's International Christmas Holiday Catalog 2010. The photo was taken while we were in Boat Harbour Bahamas. Not sure who took the photo or how it made the magazine cover. But if you get a chance take a look. Good news today we had the opportunity to fish with the Captains at Finest Kind Marina Stuart, Florida. Andy Kubiak, the NO 1, bait guy, organized a fun day for Captains on board the Safari 1. Everyone caught fish! The sail bite is getting better every day!!! We have a couple of days open around Nove 14th.

Andy Kubiak, our No1 bait guy, had a great night swordfishing last night. Hooked 7, caught one over 200 that they fought for over 3 hours. Water is calm, great for swords. We are all fishing tomorrow on the Safari with Rockie. Fun trip for 20 of us.

William's 1st Blue, San Salvador

William Fernandez, some know from "In The Bite Magazine", others know him from "Stingray Tackle". Well, he caught his 1st blue and it was a nice one. Just received the pics from our San Salvador trip this month. Locally this week, one boat caught 4 sails, and another caught a 92 pound wahoo. My brother Ken, in Ocean City, Maryland went 3-4-4 on white marlin, and 0-4-1 on a blue Sunday. The Reel Candy website should be finished with some new content and pics this weekend.
